Sorell Hotel Rigiblick – Studios & Spa Suites Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Sorell Hotel Rigiblick – Studios & Spa Suites, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical city hotel. The building sits on a quiet residential street in Oberstrass, and honestly, it feels more like discovering a well-kept secret than checking into a four-star property. The entrance has this understated elegance that doesn’t scream for attention — which I actually appreciate after dealing with the bustle of central Zurich. You know what struck me most? How the staff genuinely seemed to remember guests’ names, not in that forced corporate way, but like they actually cared.
Location & Neighborhood
Oberstrass is one of those neighborhoods that locals love but tourists often overlook, and that’s exactly what makes it perfect. You’re about a 10-minute tram ride from the main train station, but the area feels refreshingly residential with tree-lined streets and actual Swiss families going about their daily lives. I mean, there’s something charming about grabbing morning coffee at the local bakery where the barista speaks Swiss German with the regulars. The hotel’s location gets consistently high ratings from guests — and couples especially seem to love it here, probably because it strikes that sweet spot between accessible and intimate.
The Studios & Suites
The rooms at Sorell Hotel Rigiblick are what you’d call thoughtfully designed rather than flashy. My studio had this clean, modern aesthetic with warm wood accents that felt distinctly Swiss without being kitschy about it. The bed — and I’m someone who’s picky about mattresses — was genuinely comfortable, the kind where you actually sleep through the night instead of tossing around. What I loved was the kitchenette setup; it’s not huge, but it’s functional enough that you could prepare a simple breakfast or store those Swiss chocolates you inevitably buy too many of. The spa suites take things up a notch with more space and, well, spa-like amenities that make you want to extend your stay.
Dining & Amenities
The food here consistently gets rave reviews, and after eating there several times, I can see why. The restaurant focuses on fresh, seasonal ingredients — very much in line with Swiss culinary traditions but with a contemporary twist that doesn’t feel forced. Breakfast was particularly impressive, with local cheeses, fresh bread, and coffee that actually tastes like coffee (you’d be surprised how many hotels mess this up). They also have private parking, which in Zurich is basically like finding gold — seriously, if you’re driving, this alone might justify your choice.
Why Guests Love It
There’s something about this place that makes people want to return, and I think it comes down to authenticity. It’s upscale without being pretentious, comfortable without being boring. The staff knows the neighborhood well enough to give you real recommendations — not just the tourist traps but actual places where locals eat and shop. Plus, the combination of being close enough to explore central Zurich while having a peaceful retreat to return to each evening creates this perfect balance that’s hard to find in most city hotels. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re experiencing Zurich rather than just visiting it.

It was huge and modern and the view was amazing. I’d say more but I’d like to keep it a bit of a secret so I can stay there again next time.

Premium spa-like experience, beautiful, quiet and convenient location. – Hb from Belgium (9/10)
The room impressed us. In fact, the word "room" doesn't do this justice – it is very special indeed. It gives one a feeling of luxury and abundance, with all the special spa-like facilities. And the location is fantastic, close to the centre but high above the city-bustle and near the cablecar station and at the edge of a beautiful wooded area suitable for nice strolls. Very nice restaurant on-site. Obviously, the price reflects the luxury and the fact that this is Zürich.

The location and the facility itself were excellent. Our room was beautiful and it was located right at the top of the Finicula. Additionally, all of the items in the minibar were included
good stay but checking in is so hassle – Pamela from Switzerland (8/10)
space and view
Overall the stay was good. – Bonnet from United States of America (8/10)
Hotel was further from city center than was listed in the description. It was a deterrence at first but the view from our room was so spectacular that it made up for the distance. The housekeeping lady was a gem and very accommodating.
