Seefeld Residenz Overview
First Impressions
When I first walked up to Seefeld Residenz, I’ll be honest — it’s not the flashiest place you’ll see in Zurich. But there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about this three-star property that immediately put me at ease. The building sits quietly on Höschgasse, and you get the sense that this is where locals might actually choose to stay if they needed a place in their own city. The entrance is clean and welcoming without trying too hard, which honestly felt like a relief after seeing so many over-designed hotel lobbies.
The Seefeld Advantage
Here’s what I didn’t expect — the location is absolutely stellar. You’re in Seefeld, which locals will tell you is one of the best residential neighborhoods in the city. It’s got this perfect balance where you feel like you’re living in Zurich rather than just visiting it. The lake is literally a few minutes’ walk away, and you can reach the main train station in about 10 minutes by tram. What really struck me was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re so close to everything that matters. The parking situation deserves a mention too — having a guaranteed spot in Zurich is worth its weight in gold, trust me.
Your Room
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d hope for from a well-run three-star place. Nothing fancy, but everything worked perfectly and the space was thoughtfully laid out. The bed was genuinely comfortable — I mean, I slept better here than I have at some much pricier places. The bathroom was compact but modern, with good water pressure and plenty of hot water. You know what I appreciated most? The windows actually opened properly, and the neighborhood is quiet enough that you can sleep with them cracked for fresh air.
Getting Around
The tram connections from here are fantastic — you’ve got the number 2 and 4 lines nearby, which basically get you anywhere you want to go in the city. I found myself walking to the lake most mornings just because it’s so close and the route takes you through some really lovely residential streets. If you’re planning to explore beyond Zurich, the main station is easily accessible, and honestly, having that private parking means you could do day trips by car without the usual urban parking headaches.
Why Guests Love It
After spending a few days here, I totally get why couples rate this place so highly for romantic trips. There’s something about staying in a real neighborhood that makes the whole experience feel more authentic and relaxed. You’re not fighting tourist crowds when you step outside, but you’re also not stuck in some remote location. The staff clearly knows what they’re doing — everything runs smoothly without being overly formal or stuffy. For the price point, you’re getting excellent value in a city where hotel costs can quickly spiral out of control. It’s the kind of place where you actually feel settled rather than just passing through.
Savvy travelers reserve a hotel in Zurich before alpine skiing day trips fill funiculars and lake steamers.

Good short stay apartments in Zurich – Hugh from New Zealand (9/10)
Compact apartments, with full kitchen in living area, bathroom, and bed/living space. Quiet area, secure, immediately adjacent to main bus and tram lines, two supermarkets, and a post office. From the main railway station it's a simple No.4 tram trip. Laundry facilities are a guest laundry with several washers and driers. The four-level apartments are a mix of rented apartments (7) and privately occupied. Focused on-site manager 0900-1630 with excellent English, for whom nothing was a problem – really helpful. Excellent sound proofing. Smallest lift I have ever seen (240kg or 3 people) but it does what is needed.
