Residence Appartements Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Residence Appartements, you immediately get the sense this isn’t your typical hotel — and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it work so well. The building sits quietly on Letzigraben in the Albisrieden district, and while it might not scream “tourist destination,” there’s something refreshingly authentic about staying in a real Zurich neighborhood. I mean, you’re getting apartment-style accommodations without the sterile hotel vibe, which is pretty rare to find at this three-star level.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re actually living like a local for a few days. Albisrieden isn’t the flashy tourist quarter, but it’s genuinely Swiss, and couples seem to really appreciate this authentic slice of Zurich life (they rate the location 8.0, which says something). The tram connections are solid, so getting into the city center is straightforward, but you can also just walk to the local bakery in the morning or grab groceries like you actually live here. Plus, having private parking on-site is honestly a godsend in Zurich — anyone who’s tried to park in this city knows exactly what I’m talking about.
The Apartment Experience
What sets Residence Appartements apart is the space you get. These aren’t cramped hotel rooms but actual apartments with kitchenettes, which means you can brew your own coffee (important) and maybe even cook a simple meal if you want to save some francs. The setup feels more like borrowing a friend’s place than staying in a hotel, and after a few days of restaurant meals, having that option to just make a sandwich or heat up some soup is surprisingly welcome. The furnishings are practical rather than fancy, but everything works and feels lived-in rather than showroom-perfect.
Practical Perks
You know what really tells you about a place? The repeat guests — and this property has more returning visitors than most others in the area. That’s not an accident. People come back because it delivers on the basics without any fuss or pretense. The staff knows what they’re doing, the apartments are clean and functional, and there’s something to be said for a place that doesn’t try to be more upscale than it actually is. Sometimes you just want a comfortable base that feels like home, and that’s exactly what you get here.
Why Guests Love It
If you’re the type of traveler who values space, authenticity, and being able to live a bit like a local, this place hits the mark. It’s not going to wow you with fancy amenities or concierge services, but it gives you something arguably better — a real taste of residential Zurich life with all the practical benefits that come with it. The fact that so many guests return speaks volumes about what this three-star property gets right, and honestly, sometimes that’s worth more than all the bells and whistles you’d find elsewhere.
To book a hotel in Zurich during Christmas markets, visitors plan ahead to mix Bahnhofstrasse shopping with mulled wine in Niederdorf.

Nice, a bit far from downtown – Stefan from Romania (8/10)
I stayed here with a friend for 2 non-consecutive nights. The room we got the second time was smaller than the first one, I'd say it was more suitable for one person. Maybe people who complain about small rooms got the second type, since the first one I would say was OK space-wise. Both rooms had a balcony, though. I can't compare it with other places in Zurich, but for Switzerland I would say the value for money ratio was not bad. There are two supermarkets in the area (where you can get cutlery, for example :)), and the area was relatively quiet when we were there. The staff were helpful and nice. Can't comment on the AC, it wasn't that warm when we were there, fortunately.
