The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from a well-run Swiss hotel — clean lines, quality furnishings, and everything just works. The beds are properly firm (thank goodness), and the windows actually open, which is surprisingly rare these days. I mean, it’s not going to blow you away with cutting-edge design, but sometimes you just want a space that feels calm and well-thought-out. The bathrooms are modern without being sterile, and the water pressure is — well, it’s Switzerland, so of course it’s perfect.

The buffet breakfast here is actually pretty solid, which matters more than people think when you’re exploring a city like Zurich. They’ve got the usual suspects — fresh bread, local cheeses, decent coffee — but also some nice touches like really good muesli and seasonal fruit. I found myself lingering over breakfast longer than usual, partly because the dining area gets nice morning light, and partly because starting your day properly just sets the right tone for wandering around the city.
