CITY STAY – Forchstrasse Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to CITY STAY – Forchstrasse, you immediately get the sense that this isn’t trying to be something it’s not. It’s a solid three-star property that knows exactly what it does well — and honestly, that’s refreshing in a city like Zurich where everything can feel a bit pretentious. The building sits quietly on Forchstrasse, and there’s something reassuring about the straightforward approach here. You’re not paying for marble lobbies or doormen in top hats, but you’re getting something arguably more valuable — a genuinely well-run place that actually cares about the details that matter.
The Zürichberg Advantage
Here’s what I love about this location — you’re technically in the Zürichberg district, which means you get that slightly elevated, residential feel without being stuck way out in the suburbs. The parking situation alone makes this place worth considering, because let’s be real, finding a spot in Zurich can be absolutely brutal. Having private parking on-site is like striking gold, especially when you see what hotels downtown charge for the privilege. The area has this nice mix of local Swiss life and easy access to the city center, and couples seem to really get this — they’ve rated the location 8.8, which honestly doesn’t surprise me at all.
What Your Room Actually Offers
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from a well-managed three-star — clean, functional, and thoughtfully laid out without any unnecessary frills. The windows are decent-sized, which matters more than you’d think when you’re dealing with Swiss weather, and there’s enough space to actually unpack your suitcase properly. I mean, it’s not going to win any design awards, but everything works the way it should, and the bed was genuinely comfortable. Sometimes that’s all you really need after a long day of walking around Zurich’s cobblestone streets.
Getting Around and Local Life
What surprised me was how easy it is to get into the city center from here — the public transport connections are actually quite good, and you avoid that tourist bubble feeling you get when staying right in the old town. The neighborhood has a few local spots that feel authentically Swiss rather than designed for Instagram, and there’s a grocery store within walking distance if you want to grab snacks or drinks. You know what’s nice? Walking back in the evening and feeling like you’re returning to an actual neighborhood rather than just another hotel district.
Why Guests Love It
The 8.3 rating makes perfect sense once you spend a night here — it’s the kind of place that consistently delivers on its promises without overselling itself. Recent guests have been rating the location 8.9, and I think that speaks to something important about what travelers actually want versus what they think they want. You get reliable comfort, genuinely helpful staff, and that rare thing in Zurich — good value for money. It’s not flashy, but it’s the kind of place you’d actually recommend to friends without any caveats or warnings attached.
Best hotels in Zurich pair private spa suites, seasonal tasting menus, and panoramic lounges above the Alps.

Reviews of CITY STAY – Forchstrasse
Very satisfied with our stay here. – Djordje from Serbia (9/10)
Check-in was flawless, we got all instructions via message from the host (code for opening the entrance of the building and for the locker where keys of the apartment were located). Apartment was very nice and clean. Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was functional and good size. WiFi was perfect. Kitchen had everything that is needed. Apartment location is great: tram station of the line 11 is right in front of the building, it takes around 10 minutes to reach the lake that way; next to the building entrance is pizza restaurant with very affordable prices; few hundred meters away is beautiful park.
Very Good – Susan from Australia (8/10)
I found the staff to be very good. There was a problem with the tv and they attended to the problem promptly and cheerfully. That doesn't happen evetywhere.I liked that my room was near the back garden and I could sit out there. The location is good, close to public transport and a supermarket. The kitchen is clean and better provided with cooking utensils, and equipment than other places I have stayed. The bed was comfortable. I was staying by myself but I felt safe. I would stay there again.
Wonderful – Brusati from Italy (9/10)
I particularly appreciated the balcony, I was not expecting it! Also the check-in process was very easy.

Cycling around France and Switzerland – Peterg52 from Australia (9/10)
This apartment was excellent, large clean and comfortable. The number 11 stop was outside the apartment building, so it was extremely easy to get into the centre of Zurich. The balcony was a nice spot for breakfast and a drink in the evening. There was a garden outside the apartment. The communication with the management was excellent and the self-check-in worked well; but it is important to read all the messages carefully.
Uncomplicated, easy access and everything you need for self-catering – Ginette from Germany (9/10)
Location may seem a little out of the heart of Zurich, but with the tram stop right outside the door, it was very easy to get into town and back and no hassle with finding parking, parking was available on site (at a cost). The unit had everything we needed, quiet, no disturbances. Checking-in was easy and uncomplicated. Would use this accommodation again.
Thank I for responsiveness to my questions and for an easy stress free stay. – Heidi from New Zealand (9/10)
Amazing bed, some noise from tram with window open but did not worry me personally. Amazing cleanliness and lovely garden view.
